  • Pool Distribution

We insure your contents are delivered safely from start to finish. What is pool distribution? Pool distribution involves consolidating multiple shipments from a single shipper or multiple shippers at one point of origin. Then the individual shipments / load moves to a specific geographic region, with multiple delivery points within that region for individual shipment delivery What are the benefits of pool distribution? - Pool distribution is more efficient than other shipping options as it removes the need for multiple legs on the trip. Typically the most costly miles for a truck are the first and last few miles. - Pool distribution cost is based on density and miles, meaning it does not require complex formulas and is more straightforward to calculate the costs. - Besides density and volume, other factors impacting the efficiency of pool distribution is the distance from the distribution center to the pool point as well as the percent of cubic feet of the truckload trailer that is filled with freight loaded at the distribution center. The greater the mileage from origin distribution center to destination pool and the higher percentage cube of the truckload trailer, the greater the cost savings potential. - Pool distribution is faster as your shipment will be making fewer stops & makes it easy to track your shipment. - By placing fewer trucks on the road you are doing your part to reduce carbon footprint. Pooling shipments is a great way to begin “going green” & to consume less fuel Why should I pick pool distribution? Building a loyal customer base is critical to your success, and a good way to do this is to begin to understand their needs and wants. For example, eCommerce customers don’t like having to wait, partly because the internet has conditioned them for instant gratification. Improved technology has made same-day shipping and delivery a feasible way to improve customer satisfaction and increase sales. That’s exactly where we come in.

  • Strategic Warehousing

Keeping your inventory secure 24/7 - What is Strategic Warehousing? 1. Strategic warehousing will manage your transportation spending, provide warehouse space, and fulfill customer orders on your behalf. 2. By outsourcing your logistics/warehousing to a partner you will be able to transform some direct costs into variable costs. 3. With our logistics solutions, our customers who outsource their logistics won’t have to invest in warehouse facilities & equipment, warehouses systems, and technologies, employees and safety measures. - What are the benefits of using a third party logistics / warehouse provider? 1. When a third party logistics / warehouse provider ships your company’s order, the product looks like it comes directly from your company, however the people who prepare & ship the product are employees of the 3PL. 2. When fulfilling your orders a third party logistics / warehouse provider charges you every time they touch something meaning that they are charging you every time they go to a shelf and grab a product to put into a box (often called a cost per unit). 3. Some third party logistics / warehouse providers will also offer “cost plus” or “open book” pricing, which means that they take their costs and add a margin to the amount you pay. They often do this when the scope of work is unclear and it’s hard to gauge what their costs will be. 4. The main advantage of a good third party logistics / warehouse provider is that we utilize our domestic teams across multiple accounts. The Operations Manager on your account may be working on several accounts so you only pay for a portion of their salary; similarly, the cost of a forklift lease or software might also be shared across multiple accounts. 5. Last Mile Logistics has hundreds of domestic warehouse partners around the country who can handle your inventory. - Advantages of third party logistics / warehouse operations? 1. Industry specialization 2. Access to new advanced technology 3. Access to required facility & equipment requirements 4. Ability to handle large number of clients at a time and share in the expenses 5. Expand & contract space & labor requirements - Benefits of third party logistics / warehouse in supply chain management? 1. Drive Cost Savings 2. Get Access to Expertise and Experience 3. Focus on Core Competencies 4. Gain Flexibility and Scalability 5. Enable Business Growth and Market Expansion 6. Improve Customer Satisfaction - How to select a good third party logistics / warehouse provider 1. Select a 3PL that ship’s compatible products 2. Select a 3PL that has the necessary systems & technology 3. Select a 3PL that has 24 X7 visibility, an established record regarding chain of custody, & has 4. the ability to provide up to date freight status from a single source 5. Select a 3 PL that has a proven track record with scanning, track & tracing, reporting, web interface, & written SOP’s by customer 6. Select a 3 PL that is available 24 X 7 … 365 days a year.

  • Third Party Logistics – 3PL

WHAT IS 3PL? Also known as Third-Party Logistics, 3PL is an outsourcing service that logistics companies offer to businesses needing more storage, better inventory management, and customized shipping for their products. It also takes charge of packaging and reverse logistics. In logistics, there are different outsourcing levels, from 1PL to 5PL. Each one of them has its own benefits and limitations. An important distinction between 3PL and 4PL (which are the most required and oftentimes confused between one another) is that third-party logistics’ main goal is to take care of the shipment process while fourth-party logistics services focus on the overall supply chain. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HAVING A 3PL COMPANY? Logistic companies have many years of experience stocking, packaging, and delivering items of different sizes and weights. Because they provide varying truck sizes and trained staff, the cargo is loaded/unloaded efficiently and carefully. With the best routes to be cost-efficient, a third-party logistics team saves time when delivering the items, even when expedited shipping is not requested. If there are any returns, 3PL takes care of that too! The ultimate benefit is that you can expand your business and start delivering to new locations across states and countries with an experienced partner. WHEN SHOULD I PARTNER WITH A LOGISTICS COMPANY? If you have an abundance of orders daily, don’t have enough space for your inventory, and deliveries are difficult to ship, then it is time to consider using a 3PL agency. Check out our informative blogs to further understand the advantages of 3PL outsourcing services. WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF 3PL? With globalization and online orders rising, partnering with a logistics company is a must. More and more people are starting to buy online, B2B (business to business) is growing, and many companies are looking for 3PL services to fulfill the market’s needs. Partnering with a logistics company is a way to expand your business. At Last Mile Logistics, we have more than 110 years of combined experience, partnering with many companies from different industries in the U.S.A. and Canada. You can know more about us and the services we offer here.
